Quick update + join us Dec 10

Hello! If you are receiving this email, it is because you are a member of one of Raft Foundation’s fiscally-sponsored projects - or will be quite soon. We send out this bulletin toward the end of every month.

Conference season

November was busy with travel, including to Phoenix for the National Network of Fiscal Sponsors conference and Oakland for the Nonprofit Dev Summit. Thus, this newsletter has only a few quick updates for you ~

Join the December monthly gathering!

It was such a delight to host a facilitated peer support session during last month’s gathering. This month, we will be devoting about half of our time to continuing to support one another with the challenges we face, and the second half discussing our evolving (see below) approach to co-budgeting. It will take place December 10 at 1pm ET / 12pm CT / 11am MT / 10am PT. RSVP to the December gathering here!

Reminder: sign up to participate in co-budgeting

In the last newsletter, I laid out our planned approach (at least for this first round) to co-budgeting the Member Fund. In parallel, I’ve been learning a lot from co-coordinating Float, a participatory grantmaking program for open ag tech housed within Raft.

We would love to have at least five more people join this first round of co-budgeting, both to distribute funds this time and to help shape future rounds. Sign up to participate in co-budgeting here.

Welcome new projects!

Please join us in welcoming our three newest projects: UCSF Chaplains Mutual Aid Fund, Common Strength, and Rooted Farmers Projects.

Documentation updates

  • A new guide for Model C projects!

  • Expense Tips is now called International Expenses, and now includes a full list of countries to which we do not send funds

  • Several new apps added to the Technology page

  • NEW: donate.raft.foundation redirects to How To Donate (which also received a few small edits)

Operational notes

  • Downtime: Apologies to those who attempted to view our documentation November 26-27. It has now been fixed.

  • Member Fund: As of November 1, the Member Fund balance sits at $6,536.45. As described above, we are about to decide for the first time how to put these funds to use. Sign up to participate here!

  • Onboarding: This month we smoothed out a few aspects of our onboarding process. Not that we expect anyone to notice a difference - everyone only experiences it once :)

  • Project matching: Thanks to everyone who responded! We paired 11 projects with one another. If we missed you, we have one project that is looking for a partner. Send us an email if you are open to meeting with one (or more) of your fellow Raft project(s), it isn’t too late !

  • Ongoing efforts: We are continuing to work on our virtual cards program and employee handbook.

  • Didn’t happen: Seasonal reports didn’t happen this month. Stay tuned for updates, no action is required on your part ~

Thanks for reading! Reply with any questions.

Warmly,

Nathan
